The Boone Co. AR Historical Soc. just mailed some copies of information on my Holt ancestors in Carroll and Boone Co. AR. The information was taken from "Pioneer Book". The first paragraph reads: Early settlers in that part of Carroll Co., AR which later became Boone Co. included members of the Doswell Holt family ( Doswell's father was Drury Holt Sr.). Doswell Holt was born about 1785, probably in VA, and died in KY. He married Alley Wright, who was born about 1788 in VA. Alley Holt came to AR about 1852 to join several of her children who were living there. She brought with her four slaves, named Eliza, Iome, Matilda and Morris. The slaves were freed during the Civil War; however, they remained with her. Allie Holt died in Missouri where she lived with her daughter, Susan "Souky" Holt Thurman. Souky Holt married Pleasant Thurman about 1838 in Cumberland Co. KY. Does anyone on the list have information as to where in MO. the Thurmans and Alley Holt lived? Jan Hoy
