Here's what I know. Born about 1826 in Ireland, came over to the States and the next I know of him he was enlisting in the C Company of the 155th New York Volunteers. Here's the info about that: Name: James Holt Age at enlistment: 36 Enlistment Date: 10 Sep 1862 Rank at enlistment: Corporal Enlistment Place: New York City, NY State Served: New York Was POW?: Yes Survived the War?: Yes Service Record: Enlisted in Company C, New York 155th Infantry Regiment on 18 Nov 1862. Promoted to Full Private. Promoted to Full Corporal. Promoted to Full Sergeant on 09 Aug 1863. Promoted to Full 1st Sergeant on 20 May 1865. Mustered out on 10 Jul 1865 at Washington, DC. Birth Date: abt 1826 Sources: New York: Report of the Adjutant-General After that I know he married Catherine Collins and was living on Staten Island (Richmond County, NY). I believe he worked as a bricklayer. Had at least 4 children. Anyone have any info on him? I'm particularly interested to find out where he was imprisoned during the war, and of course, his parents. Thanks! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you would like to reply to them, please click on the Message Board URL link above and respond on the board.
