If I'm not mistaken, Simon Holt was the Holt that migrated from Virginia to Georgia, and Tarpley is one of his sons along with my ancestor Robert (another son). I believe there was also a Thaddeus Holt (I think this Thaddeus also had several generations of offspring also named Thaddeus down into Civil War times...) Thaddeus & Tarpley Holt were the owners of huge antebellum white mansions that are prominent in Macon GA near "downtown" and across/down from what used to be a prominent women's college that is now the main Macon Post Office, but was kept in the architectural style of the old college building... We visited these old Holt homes a few year's back in Macon ... although Simon's son Robert (as I've mentioned) is who I descend from via HIS son William Holt who married Frances Cox (a descendant of Cary Cox of Putnam Co., and a Revolutionary War soldier, and great-grandfather of Gen. John B. Gordon)... Sorry this is just all from memory: http://holt.casey-genealogy.com for more.
