Halifax Co., NC Land record--To all Christian people to whom these presents shall come: Know ye that I Joseph, of Halifax County & state of North Carolina in & in consideration of the request of my Father have given and granted unto Polly Holt wife of my brother William Holt, one of the two parts of the property left to me in the last will and testament of my father Thomas Holt dec'd Viz: one seventh part of the property to be divided after the death of my mother and by these presents do freely clearly and absolutely give and grant to the said Polly Holt her heirs executors & all and singular the property before mentioned. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 11th day of November 1794. Wit: Arrington Holt, Nancy Holt Halifax County May Sessions 1795. Then this deed of gift was exhibited in open court and duth proved by the oath of Arrington Holt a witness thereto & on motion ordered to be registered Reg. 20 1795.
