David, re your Simon Holt. In 1980 Woodland G. Shockley of Miss. did a very careful account of the family of this Simon Holt and his family. This family is English and from the Robert & Dorothy Holt from England, to MD, to VA. He states Simon Holt was born in 1736 or 1737 in K & Q Co. or King William Co. VA. He died 28 Aug. 1816 Baldwin Co. GA. Md Sarah Hines 6 July 1763, Richmond Co. VA. Simon was in Halifax Co. VA some years prior to his move to GA. His children are shown as: 1. Robert 27 Apr 1764 Richmond Co. VA died intestate Nov 1895 Hancock Co. GA. Believed to be one of twin sons. He accompanied his family to Halifax Co. VA & later to GA. He was JP in Hancock Co. and was known as "Judge Holt." Robert Holt md Nancy Holt, his first cousin, dtr of Richard Holt of Essex Co. VA around 1785. They had 4 children: William (m Frances Cox), Joseph, David Isaac & Sallie.
