    3. This was created during the era around the turn of the century, apparently, when there were many charlatans running around gathering up funding to go to England and claim the "great estate" that had gone unclaimed there. They collected funds to pay for their trip to "prove the case" over there. The Holt families were among those who were caught up in this scam. When I began genealogy in the 1960's, there were still folks who remembered hearing their parents talk about the funds they invested in this scam that were lost, since no "great estate in England" was ever uncovered that belonged to any Holt they knew of! They were leery of my inquiries, thinking I was a part of some similar scam! 3. But the information in the affidavit is presumed to be true and correct, even though it was involved in the scam, right? 3. Somewhere in the Holt archives we have posted information of an inheritance that is being held in England that if anyone can claim positive proof of their kinship it ca be released. It was found in a manuscript and I believe my husband has a full copy of the book that it was in on cd . I believe it was to a Judge John Holt; but could be wrong. The funds are supposed to be in the millions of pounds and tie to possibly the Randall Holt line as I recall. Helene
