I started reading it. I have to keep remembering that it is a novel. I started tracking inaccuracies as I read thinking it would likely be accurate but after a while I realized that it would make a complicated story if all of the information was historically accurate. Just as an example, she mentions that Mary Toothacher was her only sister. She actually had at least two others living in Andover at the time. Of course this would complicate the story, since I have not been able to find out what her sisters did during the trial... History is quiet about this. Also she says the grandfather died years before...but he actually died around Oct 1690... meaning that when they arrive in Andover in Dec 1690... the grandfather had only just died. This too would complicate things. So I assume that there are reasons for the changes. But it points out that you can't rely on historical novels for solid info, but more to capture the spirit of the times Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
