My Holt relatives left Rochdale in 1646 for St, Mary's, Maryland. Your Nichlas may be related. I do not know of any other brothers or sisters of my ancester. My ancesters family supported the Royalist against Cromwell. They lost. My ancester resigned from an office which he was force to do by Cromwell officials in 1646. If your relative was a member of the same family, he might feel the need to leave (ONLY THEORY). In a 1633 census of men of military age in the Rochdale area, there were nine Robert Holts and six John Holts. Rochdale is northeast of Manchester near Oldham. You talked about DNA. My relatives would be the Robert - Richard Holt line. A few descendants have had their DNA matched to this line. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
