VA in 1762 and/or earlier. Where did he come from before that? Was he an immigrant? Did he have any family other than included below in this timetable? Are there any known descendants of Anne Holt Thomas or William Holt or any other of the unnamed children that were counted in the 1784-7 census? Timetable and Paper Trail for Granville Co NC Holt Family Members Last update: 4-30-08 For clarification: Charles Holt is not the son or grandson of Michael Holt of Orange Co. NC & Alamance Co. NC as it has finally been proven by Family TREE DNA comparisons made in November, 2004. By the same DNA procedures in 2005, Relationships have also been established between Charles Holt, James Holt, and John Holt, Jr. who married Sarah Fuller. This relationship does imply that the elder John Holt referred to below must surely be the father of said Charles, John, James, and William, Anne and others. Where known, I will refer to the older John as Sr. and the youngest John as Jr. John Jr. also had a son named John (III). 1756-60 Thomas Holt sells land to Green Hill, pg. 701 Bk. 6, Granville Co. NC (Since Charles was born in Prince Wlm. County, VA, this does not look likely to be his father.) 1762 - Mar 30 Charles born Prince William Co. VA per his RW pension application (Have copy) 1764 - May 1 an Elizabeth Holt m. Samuel Birch or Burch, Granville Co. NC (Dau of Thomas? Or maybe Sister or Sister in Law of John Sr?) 1765- John Holt Sr listed on Tax Rolls Granville Co. NC for the first time 1769 - John Holt Sr listed on Tax Rolls Granville Co. NC served 3 ½ months per RW pension 1781 - Jun 6 Charles joined Capt Moore's NC Militia again for 5 months, RW pension application. Both James and Charles were living in Rutherford Co. TN at the same time. They both had children born in NC, GA, and TN. James died in Moulton, Lawrence Co. AL and Sarah moved on to Washington Co. AR with her children 1785 - Feb 15 Charles Holt married Martha (assumed to be Rackley then) in Franklin Co. NC per their RW pension applications (Have copies). The marriage is not found recorded in Franklin Co. NC records per her RW pension application file. 1785 - Dec 25 Charles' 1st son William Charles Holt born Granville Co. Beaverdam District, 2 wm 21-60, 1 wf all ages, (note: first child not listed - probable error in age posting on white males as 2 wm 21-60). For some reason or another Charles does not appear on a Federal census record until 1820 in St Clair Co, Alabama 13 names from Charles is John Sr , 2 wm 21-60, 4 wm -21 & 60 , 5 wf all ages. . James and his wife could possibly be included with John's census listing. 1788 - Charles' 1st daughter Rebecca born Franklin or Granville Co.
