    3. Donna, if you will write me at [email protected] or at [email protected] I can give you reference sources, etc. For more than ten years I have collected an extensive database on ancesters and descendants of Samuel Holt and Mary Binford. Before years end, working together with Janis Gilmore, it is our hope to complete a well documented "every" name (including girls' lines) descendants' database. As for Sam's ancesters the database is as well documented as it can be considering there seems to be some missing Virginia and North Carolina records (burned courthouses, war damage, etc). I live in Virginia and have spent many an hour looking for records on this particular Holt ancestral lines. In my direct line the most interesting fact (in so far as I'm concerned) I've turned up is that Randal Holt II and a man named Thomas Warren apparently absolutely despised each other. Bacon's rebellion probably was the source of their initial dislike for each other. Randal Holt ! probably supported the rebellion (his brotherinlaw was hung for treason against the crown) whereas the aristocrat-born Thomas Warren supported the crown. Anyhow, there is a court record where one called the other a "lying barking dog". Since both men are my 9th g-grandfathers I got a good chuckle over that particular record.
