Judy, Thank you very much for your response to my query on the ancestors of Henry Holt. It is entirely possible that Henry did indeed go back to either Ireland or England and acquire another family. The Holt name has been in use in Ireland since c1200 so he could indeed have been an Irishman. Circumstantial evidence and a lot of wishful thinking attach him to the family of Rowland Holt, brother of Sir John Holt, (Lord Chief Justice of the Kings Bench 1687-1709) both sons of Sir Thomas Holt. One line of thinking is that he sailed for England and him and the ship were lost at sea. As of now, there is no evidence of what happened to him . We do know that Dorcas Armstrong, and Irish Lass and Henry's wife, was in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pa. in 1735 were she was hauled into court for beating up on her friends husband. The next I've been able to find either one of them was in 1738, when Dorcas, obviously a widow, married Arthur Buchanan in Gloucester, New Jersey, just across the river from Philadelphia. Again, thank you very much for responding, Bob Holt in Arizona
