We have an abandoned cemetery near my home. The church is still standing but in bad condition. The first burial was in the 1860's and there seem to be no surviving relatives of those buried there. I surveyed the cemetery a few years back and posted the results on rootsweb. It's a good thing I did because a tornado struck and did significant damage shortly afterwards. I've tried to get groups together to help maintain the cemetery and church but without much luck. It seems it will soon go the way of some of these other cemeteries and just fade out of site and into nothing more than some useless land. How sad.
