Abner was one of three brothers who left Halifax County, Virginia and settled in Callaway County, Missouri. They were Abner, Hiram, and John Holt. Their parents were Timothy Holt and Elizabeth Chambers. They are descendants of Robert Holt who was born in 1605 in Rochdale, Lancashire, England. Robert and Dorothy Heywood Holt came to St. Mary's, Maryland in 1646. I am a descendant of Timothy's brother, James Holt.
