My husband is a direct descendant of Nicholas Holt, and we've done extensive research on his line. Nicholas was born in Romsey, England 10/19/1602 His first wife was Elizabeth Short born in England about 1606 Nicholas and Elizabeth were married about 1630 in Romsey, England They were passengers on the "James" of London, which sailed from the port of Southampton, England, about 6 Apr 1635, and arrived at Boston, in New England, on Jun 3 following, after a voyage of thirty-eight days. They first settled in Newbury, MA, where they resided for 10 years. Nicholas is listed as one of the first settlers of Newbury. They then removed to Andover where Nicholas was listed as one of the first 10 settlers of the town.
