I'm killing brain cells trying to sort this out...can anyone help?   I'm looking at the 1850  Canaan, Gasconade Co. MO census.   Jeremiah Holt   24 Nancy             21 Melinda           2 Sarah Simpson  22 Wm Simpson  24 Daniel E         7 Jefferson         5   But, on another page of that same census, I find listed just below the family of Jacob Holt, George Holt, Elizabeth Holt , another entry for Sarah Simpson with children Daniel and Jefferson.   The death record for Daniel E. Simpson shows his mother as "Mae Holt"   I've also seen the Marriage record for William Simpson, father of Daniel, which shows the first name "Sarah" but the last name was not entered on the document.
