    3. Mary The John Holt you have married to Elizabeth Blackwell married in 1792 VA so was probably too young to have been a Loyalist in the Revolution. I can hear your sigh of relief from here. I have just found out our ancestor was a Loyalist and find I am having to apologize for it. And that took mje 45 years to find out. Not a Holt I'm glad to say. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mary-Gene Page" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, August 01, 2006 10:39 AM Subject: Re: [HOLT-L] John Holt -deserted 1782-Loyalist list > Where is this Camp Fresh Meadows? 3. I am not very astute when it comes to The Revolution. 1. Where was Camp Fresh Meadow? What state? 2. This was a Loyalist Troop, so does that mean John HOLT deserted and went over to the American side? It would be interesting to know if he did... 3. The best I can tell Betty. KING'S American Dragoons were a Loyalist outfit.Loyalist Institute: Index to King's American Dragoons History Articles in Google gives lots on them. 3. I recently read a book 'THE HORNET'S NEST' by (President) Jimmy Carter which concerns the American Revolution in the South, particularly the Carolinas and Georgia. It is classed as fiction but it certainly isn't a historical romance. There's lots of history of the fighting and I think all would enjoy it.
