I still have a block from my oldest proven ancestor - David Holt, born 1765 in Va, but through the DNA process, I found I was descendent from the Robert/Richard Holt line that settled in St Mary's County, MD in the 1640's, coming from England. Both Robert and Richard had sons named David. I still have the gap of 2 generations to tie in, but I definitely think it was a worthwhile investment. Have any of you done the DNA thing with Ancestry.com? If so, have you been happy with the results. I was wondering if enough people have done it to make if worth the money to do it-- I mean -- did it help you discover new links in your family tree? Thanks! I'm looking for information on Thomas Holt born April 22, 1858 in Missouri and died on April 15th, 1921 in Box Oklahoma. I find the 1860 census record in Missouri showing the parents Stephen Holt 43 Parthena Holt 35 Benjamin Holt 19 Polly Holt 17 Francis Holt 16 Sarah Holt 15 Anna Holt 13 Perry Holt 12 Stephen Holt 10 Clerinda Holt 10 Charles Holt 8 Wm Holt 6 Jane Holt 4 Thomas Holt 2 And I believe is Stephen's mother Sarah Holt 70 Then I find some of the kids in Arkansas in the 1870 census Perry Holt 22 Clarinda Holt 24 Jane Holt 18 William Holt 16 Breckenridge Holt 14 Thomas Holt 12 Adam Holt 10 I was told that Thomas was orphaned and this would make sense as far as location since Thomas was married in Arkansas before moving to Oklahoma. Just trying to find out what happened to the parents. If anyone has any info on what happened with this family I would appreciate any info. The younger two died in 1860, and are NOT shown with the rest of the family in the 1870 census for Hammanton, NJ.
