Skinner and Mary Elizabeth family to today date. I will try and scan it in tomorrow at my office and send it to you if you like. The family is definitely from Blount County, Alabama and then later on moving to Texas. Do I already have your private email address to send this to? Skinner in my database but no children etc... and see her connection to the Charles Holt line. So I see that you have connected to Charles OK so the only thing I can add to your tree would be the father of Charles. I have found no legal paper trail documentation on this connection and I don't think that anyone else has does so. The same goes for Charles' wife Martha. Most of us lean to Martha's last name being Rackley which then became Ratliff as the family moved westward through Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama by the early 1800's. That assumption is based on the belief that Martha was the sister to Jeremiah Rackley (later Ratliff)who was associated with Charles on several other records. If you have any documentation that shows otherwise, we all would sure like to see it. The same goes for the Granville Co. NC John Holt who first appears on Granville Co, NC tax rolls in 1765 if my memory is up to par. It is this John that mo! st all of us claim to be Charles' father. According to DNA and other legal records available in Granville Co. I would say that we have a very good circumstantial case to make this claim. This happens to have been the only Holt family in that county between 1765 to 1790 on record and Charles,John Jr,and James descendants have all been tested and their DNA profile match and John Sr. is old enough to have been their father. Charles and John Sr are also the only adult males on the 1784-7 Census for Granville Co. John Sr had a fairly large family listed. Charles was listed with 1 female and 2 males. Since your line is William son of Charles and William was born in Dec 1785 and the actual date on record of the census was 1786 I would say that the 2 males recorded for Charles would be him and William. lord, I am rambling on. How far are you in the Holt line already. Since your surname is not Holt, your DNA would only be good to check out your Smith relationships. The Y chromosome is used for this purpose and it is passed down from father to son every generation virtually without change right along with the surname. If you had some male Holt cousins their DNA Y Chromosome profile would match mine and every other related Holt male (unless there was an illegitimacy or adoption in the their line somewhere). I will be glad to help you any way I can. Ed Holt Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
