I am interested in your Ida M. Holt. My great grandmother, Mary E. HOLT was born in Tennessee on 12-7-1837. One of her daughters was named Ida May and her granddaughter was named one Ida Virginia. Ida does not seem to be a common name in the Holt family. I have been unable to trace her family. She married Samuel DUDLEY who was born in 1833 in AL. They were married in Lauderdale Co. TN in 1856. He served in the Civil War from 1862 -1864. They lived in Upper Alton, IL in 1866-1870 and were living in Portage des Sioux, St. Charles Co, MO in 1880. Mary died in Alton, IL in 1914. I am looking for their parents. I have a Holt family in Lauderdale Co. TN, but cannot confirm it is her family. Do you see any connection? Carol Canham Harker Stafford Springs, CT

His family was John Wiley so he ran across these army things on john Wiley widow Elizabethe Jane and sent them to me. I am begining to wonder if some how Allen and MaryAnn Caroline Metcalf were related they could have been and had to go out of state to get married. As I was growing up these states were often visited because of family there. Nancy it wasn't Elizabeth born in Missouri i think it was Matilda B.Holt she was listed on a census as the daughter of Allen and Maryann. Now my grandma had an Aunt thta was supposed to be a Beatrice Holt Graves I think that's her last name from southern IL. I was gonna ask Uncle Arlet when I go down. I also was going to look for her obit. You see Mary Graves is listed on my grandma Nellie Wiley's delayed birth certificate as Nellie's cousin so I then found out that Mary' mom was a beatrice Holt. My problem is I can't get down to southern IL to do research and no on to watch kids. Could you send this reply to me on my regular e-mail I like to never found this one again. I will try to get a complete history on Absolum Metcalf the cherokee indian I think is related to our Metcalf's. Nancy my grandma and grandpa was cousins there were related through the Metcalf family. Grandpa Elmer's grandma was Martha Amanda Metcalf beleived to be sister to Maryann Caroline Metcalf Grandma to Nellie Wiley Williamson. Also my grandpa Elmer had an aunt named Martha Olive Metcalf Williamson married Geo. Washington Williamson in southern IL. How's that for keeping it in the family? Did you ever find any kids from Amos and Ella Collins marriage? I think they had some because they were married for 6 years. My computer is refusing to use capital letters. My aunt Irene Williamson was related to Mary Graves and so her and Chster were cousins. So was my uncle Albert and aunt Louise Bell Williamson. Did you ever get complete list of Amos and Alice's kids? Because they had a Maude and Mahayla different names. My mom was named Rhoda Beatrice Williamson. You said you had papers that stated John Wiley died in the army. I never came across that. his wife Elizabeth filed pension papers for a pension and stated he died in Fulton Ky. However she couldnt prove this. Its so hard to track him down. I have found a John Wiley in Ky and Ill as early as 1820 on the census but have no way of knowing if it is the correct John. Im going back to the court house this summer and see if I can find out anything about him , maybe a land transfer or something. I paid someone in The Tn,Ky are to do some research but nothing so far. I would also like to find a marriage lic for Allan Holt and Mary Ann Medcalf. I believe he was married to Marge Ann Brannon from 1850 till before 1876 when he married Elizabeth Harris. I still think maybe Mary ann Medcalf was Marge Brannon. This would explain the two Holt children in the Murry Household. My other great grandfather Jas Murry and Directon Brannon. Directon Brannon I believe to be the Bridgt Brannon who married James Murry in 1857. If Bridgt and Mary Annn were sisters it would be the reason she took care of the Holt children for a 20 year period. Or possibly directon Brannon and Mary Medcalf were half sisters or something. I would pay dearly for this information. If someone could give me cold hard facts they would be well rewarded :) please keep in touch if you come across anything new. Nancy
