    3. Does anyone know his birthdate? According to the will of his brother James Holt, he had three children by each wife. In an affidavit for bounty land in 1831 it was proved in Petersburg by the testimony of Clarimond Colquhoun that James Holt, Deceased, was the elder brother of Henry Holt, Midshipman in the State Revolutionary Navy and that William C. Holt was the only child of James Holt. Clarimond Colquhoun was of course the sister of James and Henry Holt mentioned in the will of Judge James Holt. She married 1st in July 1782, Robert Peter, who died in 1791.

    2. Ben, The father of My John Marshall Holt ,Joseph P. came from NH, where he was born, married in VT. amd then came to IL where ie died in Vergenes, IL, 1876. His wife was Hanna Peabody Holt. I will look to see if I have any siblings for JM Holt, born in 1831, Land Grove Vermont, married and died in Vergennes IL., Jackson County. My outline doesn't have any siblings listed but I may have some paperwork that names them. At least this will give you a pattern of migration. Jan O'Brien

    1. [HOLT-L] Attachments coming with Viruses
    2. There is a virus going around right now that works in a rather clever way. It steals the address book of a person who is infected. It then uses that address book to create messages that appear to come from the person in the address book. That person may be innocent. Their computer is not the one sending out the virus. As always, update your anti virus software often. Jeff Bailey, Gladstone, Missouri. From Michael Holt line of North Carolina.

    3. There nothing to be added to Wilene's wonderful explanation. I've had the same things happen to me, and have heard reports from others. In a truly enlightened society virus writers would be tortured and executed publicly. They do much damage to our on-line economy and to the level of trust that builds among computer users. Netscape will permit you to look at the complete header. The reply-to address can be specified to be anyone at all. Most of my virus attacks have been from addresses ending in .RU, where they may be less sophisticated. I did have some from AOL and Verizon, but that seems to be ended. One additional thing to keep in mind is that it is possible that some aparent viruses are really marketing tools. Some of us recieve a virus, and immediately reply to the sender to inform them of their virus 9we don't open anything, and we delete it all). The reply-to address may easily be a marketing agency that collects the replies and assembles them into lists for sale. Does this happen? I don't know. I do know that I keep very good track of unsolicted e-mail, and after I dutifully told a few senders of their viruses, my inbox was filled with offers.
