Campbell, Jan. 24, 1884, could this be your James? The only other information I have is that in 1920 she was living in Albemarle (Stanly Cty), NC. Possibility they might have lived in Greensboro (Guilford) NC. Would like to hear from you.
Hi Donna, Can't thank you enough for the info you have given me :) I was looking at Lemuels records, what few I have. I noticed that the letter A as a middle name only appeared on his second and 3rd marriage lic's and only in my fathers funeral record written by my mom. On his first marriage lic he said his name was Lem Holt. That is all I ever remember him by also. I am very supsicious of the James L. Holt on the 1880 census. Father John C. Holt, mother Elsadie P. Holt. They are in Lawrence Co. Ark. Marion township. This is where I found Lemuel in the 1900 census, 1910 census and also the 1920 census. I am wondering about that middle initial if it may stand for Lemuel. It also states he and his father were born in Illinois. I'd like to know more about this family. Also on the 1880 cenus is a J.T. Holt born in Illinois. My oldest brother's name was J.T. Always thought that was strange but I know they did that in those days and also went by their middle names. In fact, LaVon is my middle name and I have always gone by that. Thanks again for all your help, really appreciate it. LaVon

This is my great Grandfather, Frederich William “Fritz” Holt. This is the post I just wrote to the Holt board this evening regarding Holts in Oklahoma: "My Holts are from Fort Smith, Arkansas - right on the border of Poteau, Oklahoma. They are of the Prussian variety and my great Grandfather "Fritz" (Frederich William) Holt was born "on the boat" in 1872 - I have since deduced that "the boat" may have been a river boat, as they lived in Illinois for some years before "landing" in Fort Smith. Any connection? Feel free to email me any time to compare notes or share photos and stories. Cheers!" So you see, it’s pretty clear that we are kin! Where did you get the New Orleans connection? Do you have any source info to verify that? Fritz had an older brother William (or Wilhelm) who was born in Illinois a few years before the family moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas. Fritz married Ollie Lugene Jetton. My Grandpa was Elmer Bert Holt.... Hey wait... Have I met you? My Dad Is Elmer Duane Holt from San Jose. I think he mentioned Johnny as one of his favorite cousins! Is that you? I hope so. Cheers, Lance J. Holt lance@mactire.net http://www.mactire.net

Outside of knowing my paternal ggrandfather's name, have no other info on James, his parents or siblings. My grandmother, Alma Gertrude HOLT, was born in June 1893 in Kansas City, MO. "Supposedly," her Mother, Janett Boone REEVE, died betweeb 1898-1903 and grandma was placed in a Catholic orphanage instead of going to live with her Mother's family in Jacksonville, Morgan Co IL; possible because grandma was born only two months after her parents were married. Would really like any info that is available on the HOLT side of my family. Have info on the REEVE line going back to ca 1772 in Wilkes Co NC.
