My great grandmother, Elizabeth Holt Reeder had 3 brothers who may have been born in Beatrice, Nebraska, but settled in Stetler, Ontario, Canada in the late 1800's I believe. A graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, in the Frieden's Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. Kristina Johnson, pastor and the Rev. Raymond Petrea. Worshippers are asked to assemble in the church one hour prior to the graveside service. She had been a resident of Whitsett and Burlington until January of this year when she moved to Georgia to live with her son. Lucille was was the oldest child of Dr. and Mrs. William Thornton Whitsett. Dr. Whitsett was the founder of Whitsett Institute. Her late husband, Arnold Lea Holt, who was a native of Burlington, died in 1980. She is survived by her son, Joseph W. Holt of Jasper, Ga.; her brother, Joseph Gordon Whitsett of Whitsett; two grandsons, Stephen Holt of Colorado Springs, Colo. and David Holt of LaCrosse, Wis.; 10 great-grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to8 p.m. Monday at Lowe Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Holt's grandsons, Stephen and David Holt and nephews, Danny and Joe Whitsett, William Poteat and Curtis Mitchell. Holt was born in 1807 in NC (no clue as to the county). He married Elizabeth Northington in Cumberland Co., NC Nov. 13, 1826. To my surprise he told me about a branch of family I had ever thought to know. My grandmother died when my mom was only 15 months old. My mom died 13 years ago and no one in her family seemed to know anything. WELLLLLL- my uncle told me his mother was Ada Theodocia Holt. Her parents were John F. Holt and Lucinda Winter. John F.'s parents were John D. Holt and Elizabeth Northington. If you have info will you please share it with me. My mother's family doesn't know much or care about the past. When I get to go to my uncle's I'll share what he gives me. I am disabled now and have to have someone go with me and he lives about 2 hours from me.
