My GGGrandfather, Thomas Holt, was born April 10, 1823 in Lancashire, England. He married Susann Hitchen who was born in 1826. They had 6 children. I have not been able to find out anything about his family in England. I believe he had a brother James. Searching for "Mr Holt", m Sarah -Sallie- Irving White, probably after 1901........she is buried in McGlamery church cemetary in Collinwood TN, supposedly in the plot of MR HOLT, he is not there unless he has no stone. Never married. Emily Holt married Burt Cole and had at least 2 children. Raymond born approx 1942 and Lorraine or Jean ( not sure on name ) last heard of in London. Douglas Holt married with 2 or 3 children. Ran or owned a pub in Preston. Lilly ( Elizabeth Lillian ) born approx 1918 - deceased in infancy. Mildred Holt 1926, married Alexander Johnston in New Zealand in 1951. They had 5 children between them. Donald Holt deceased in infancy. Likely, she was the last born. I have quite a bit on this Jordan C (Cane) Holt. He was born 1794 in Orange Co NC, but lived in Bedford Co at least as far back as 1817, so your gggmother was probably born in Bedford Co. I am trying to trace a Jordan Holt from Louisiana, whom I believe to be related to this Jordan C Holt of TN, but I just can't quite confirm the connection.

Hello folks, Does anyone know of any other lists that deal more specifically with Prussian Holts? I descend from Frederich "Fritz" Wilhelm Holt who was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1872 - the son of the immigrant ancestor. There are family traditions that state that the name was originally spelled "Hohlt" which (if true) would probably place the family's origin in the Westphalia region of present day Germany.
