Charles W. Holt was born in Mo. and it says on the 1880 census that he was 7 years old. Hope this helps and if it does I'd like to know more about him. Thanks, LaVon

I am just wondering if there is any connection to the John W HOLT that I am researching born in York Co., VA and went to and settled at Uniontown, Fayette Co., PA during the Whiskey rebellion. This John was born in 1769..... any comments or suggestions anyone? To those of you looking for John W. Holt: Most of you have the information from the Holt book by Early so I will just put in the following paragraph from the book and then continue with the will for Ann Cosby and my thought's. Hope this helps and would love to hear back from you and get your ideas. " He is very desirous of seeing you if you think it worth while come and see him. He says he wishes he was with you. He feels very dejected at times on account of his conduct. He has all three children with him to struggle for. Your cousin Sally Cosby was married not long after you went away to William Price. They have no children nor never had. Jane Cosby has four children. They are all well. So no more but remain your sincere friend, John Slaughter." On my trip to Salt Lake in the fall of 1999 I came across the following will of Ann Cosby of York Co., Virginia dated 11 November 1792. In the name of God Amen, Ann Cosby of York County widow being this the abundant mercy and goodness of God, tho' weak in body yet of a sound and perfect understanding and memory do constitute this my last Will and Testament and desire it may be received by all as such. Holt came from the Holt-Bennett book by Early. She, among others, think that John W. Holt was the son of John Holt, son of John s/o John, son of John, s/o Randall Holt but I don't believe so. I THINK he could be the son of either John Holt or Matthew Holt, sons of Thomas Holt and Ann Jones. The reason being, the name Mathew, which was not a common name in our Holt line but was the known son of Thomas and Ann. Matthew was born 1740 and John was born in 1743. There is a headstone that reads Elizabeth Holt wife of Joel Holt, and one more Malinda. I was contacted by a lady whose name I have forgotten. I am trying to reach her again. (I finally have our computer up and running) I would like to give her directions to the burial site and offer the pictures that we have.I would also like suggestions on how to bring this burial site to public attention. There are other grave markers there but they are just stones with no markings. My husbands gggg-grandfather is said to be buried there also. Thanks Diane Kelly

Though 1884 sounds about right in the year he was born. The only information I have reguarding James is that His Daughter ( my great Grandmother) was born in Oklahoma in the early 1900's, like 1907 i think. And her mother was Ollie Jane Workman. The only county That I think he may have lived in was Craig county, he died in Timber Hill, whichever county that is. I know I have a lot of useless information as to how we could be connected, if we are. But hopefully this little bit of information links to something.
