I have been busy working on the Holt line in Maryland. My grandfather was Thomas H. Holt and everything I find out is that he was born in Maryland about 1847-1849. I find a Washington Holt with a son in the 1850 census that could be his father but someone in one World Tree that said he died in 1867 or so. I find that he was in the Civil War as a Private on the Union side. Anyone out that is working on the Holt line find any proof that he died. I know that someone must have found out this information to put it in a World Tree. I keep coming back to this Thomas and I need to prove somehow that he didn't die before I continue on working this line. Otherwise I am dead in the water. Thanks for any information good or bad. Margaret was born in the Dutchess Co., NY area in December, 1812. Other family members lived along the Erie Canal route and in Michigan (Grand Rapids area or Calhoun County) and in Racine and Walworth Counties in Wisconsin. Later in life she lived in Chicago. Any of these areas may have been where she lived with Mr. Holt. She married for a second time in October of 1850 to Joseph Meeker of Chicago as "Mrs. Holt", so he probably died before then. It is not known whether they had any children. Any help finding a connection most appreciated.
