Will of Robert Coufield of Surry, dated Jan. 2, 1691, names Mrs. Mary Holt, and his niece Elizabeth Holt, wife of WIlliam Holt. THe will of William Seward of Lawnes Creek dated March 6, 1702-03 names his daughter Elizabeth Holt. William Holt made his will which was proved May 18, 1726 and in it he names sons, William, Thomas and Charles. Another child was named in will of Elizabeth Seward as "Mary Seward, my granddaughter".

I have this note about Drury Holt in my Holt database. Hope it provides a clue. Betty Drury Holt (b. 29 Dec 1759) was in the Elk Creek District of Montgomery Co., VA, in the 1780s (now Grayson County). From there he was in Hawkins Co, TN (now Hancock) and from there moved into Knox Co, KY (now Whitley) where he died. The Holt Herald, Vol. 3, Number 3, April 1995, edited by Andrea K. Storm. From manuscript written by Irving Groves III, and info from Polly Creekmore and the Sussex, Surry, and Southampton Co, VA, record books. Drury Holt was the son of Nathaniel Holt. Nathaniel Holt (b. by 1733, d. 3 Nov 1814 in Albemarle Parish) who m. Abbey "Abba" Clanton. We think she married a Mr. Hamlin, not sure where or when, but we have a letter that she wrote to my grandmother, Dollie. The letter was postmarked 1926 from S P Hamlin in Mena Arkansas. We're not sure if she went to Canada with Mr. Hamlin, but she remarried a Jens Christenson in 1927 in Prince George Canada . According to the marriage license she was a widow at that time. She died in 1941 in BC Canada and is buried in Prince George Municipal Cemetary. My parents went to Prince George and found her unmarked grave and along with my aunt, they had a tombstone placed on her grave. We listed her name as Sydney P Christensen, mother of Dollie V Holt Sudduth. We have her death certificate from Canada. One question I have for you is how is her name listed on Kathryn's death certificate? Apparently she went by several different first names. We have a couple of pictures of Sydney that I would be ! willing to share with you, however my Grandmother's house burned down in the 1970's, so I have none of Dollie as a child or young woman and none of her siblings or parents together. My mother remembers a picture of Kathryn and several brothers and sisters, do you know of this picture? I would absolutely love to have a copy of it or any others you might have. James is my brother in law's grandfather. In 1910 Cove City, Crawford Co. she is listed as Sidney P and is with George W. Her parents are Clinton Lewis and Mary Martha Holmesley. Hines willl specified 10 children and all but Leonard Hall are named. The last born in 1819. Perry was born in SC in 1820.

I noted that Mavis Williams a great researcher of Holt material died 2 years ago. I sent letters to her that were not returned about a year ago. She and I shared much research and I have long letters and documentries she shared with me. Does anyone know where her material was sent after her death? I am in hopes that the Bienville Parish, LA library may have them. Is anyone on the list near the library that could check. She had no children and the last we saw of she and Lews was shortly before his death. She was a gracious hostess and fixed lunch for us. We had the same ancestry. Would appreciate any help in this matter. Helene
