    3. Donna Thank you for the information. In 1870 Thomas Holt was in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. In 1860 census this Loudusky Pitts is also in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. She married Pinkey Albert Holt 1866 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. Thomas Holt moved to Arkansas in 1876. I appreciate the information on William Holt. I will see if I can find more information on him. 3. I haven't looked through my database yet but my Holt's were also in Cadron, Faulkner Co. AR at the time of your Thomas Holt. My great great grandfather was also named Thomas Holt and was in Cadron in 1880 where he is found on the census with his wife, Victoria. Many of the Holt's that traveled to that area of AR originated from TN then spent a short stint in MO before going to Cadron for unknown reasons. We suspect because they had family there. Most of them returned to MO but some remained behind and are also buried where your Thomas is buried. I'll do some research on it but please be patient with me...I have a new grandson who takes up a lot of my time these days. Best wishes! 3. Since Boone County was formed from the eastern portion of Carroll County, I agree with you that the eastern Carroll County line was moved west. Also in this same time frame, the northern portion of Madison County (up to the MO border) was transferred to Carroll County. 2. Ok I can't stand it anymore, just a joke. Look in Jackson, Boone County, P.O. Harrison in 1870, he is listed as D. J., same as he is in 1880 Boone County, Crooked Creek, with Henry and Amanda, both born in Kentucky, with a brother William and then in 1860 Jackson, Carroll County, P.O. Mountain Springs, he is listed as Drura, a female, again with Henry and Martha, both born Kentucky, and brother William. County lines must have moved around 1870, because it changes from Carroll County to Boone County. If you go back to 1850, Crooked Creek Carroll County, again Henry and Martha with a child, Doswell and Larkin and family living next door. Larkin and family are listed in the 1880 census also in Crooked Creek, Boone County. Good Luck Donna

    3. >From "Map Guide to the U.S. Censuses, 1790-1920", in 1860 Carroll County, AR comprised what is now Carroll and Boone Counties. By the 1870 census, the split had taken place with Boone County being formed from about the eastern 40 percent of the 1860 Carroll County area. The Carroll and Boone County boundaries appear to have remained the same since 1870. 3. Millie, Are you looking for the descendants or ancestors of Drury J. Holt? If it is his ancestors, try the Holt line that lived in southeastern KY and southwestern VA in the late 1700s and early 1800s. This Holt line also inter-married with the Doswell Rogers line. Before getting to the very tip of southwestern VA, this Holt line also spent some time in Halifax County, VA and Surry County, VA (or perhaps the Isle of Wight County, VA). There is some information in the archives of the Holt surname list on Rootsweb for this family. However, I am not related to it and don't have any further information. 3. I am looking for the family of Drury J. Holt (b. Arkansas, abt. 1855). According to the 1880 census, both of his parents were born in Kentucky. He married Mary Anne Evans on 13 Sept. 1874 in Boone County, Arkansas. On Auguet 3, 1882 the Arkansas Land Records Record (Document # 3408) entered a homestead claim in his name. Drury and Mary Ann sold the homestead in 1904 to James H Doyle. The 1910 census is the last in which I found him. At that time he was still living in Boone county, but had a new wife, Elise Holt, aged 22. I know of three sons all born in Arkansas which he had with his first wife: John D Holt (b. 1878) who probably died as a toddler, Drury Marvin Holt born 1890, and Charles L. Holt born 1893. I have 4 step-children who are direct descendents of Drury J. Holt and am currently working on their family tree. I would appreciate any help I can get.--Millie Lehmann

    3. Henry Holt is said to be the father of Sarah Holt the wife of Azariah Shelton b 1752 in the vicinity of Henry Co, VA., died in Tennessee....possibly McMinn or Monroe Counties (although it could be his son, Azariah who died here). I am looking for info on the siblings of Sarah. Specifically was there a relationship between Frances Holt who married Lewis Ross and kinship to Bricey Holt who married Samuel Lewis....all probably in TN. Joyce Gaston Reece

    3. You did a good job tracing my family history. Indeed Andrew B. Holt was the son of Jesse and Delilah Taylor Holt and Robert and William were two of his younger siblings. There were ten children in all in that family. Robert is in Cocke County in 1900 but soon after moves to Grayson County, Texas where he remains until his death in 1919. William remained in Cocke County but died in Knox County in 1923. His wife died in 1920 and his children then went to live with older siblings in Davidson County. As for the Balch side, Harvey, whose name was actually Henry Girdine Balch and Margaret Faubion were Della's parents. Her full name was Sarah Idella Balch but she went by Della. Margaret died in 1890 and is buried in the Faubion Family Cemetery in Cocke County. Henry remarried and he and all but his eldest two children, one of them being Della, moved to Texas and later Oklahoma. Andrew and Della married in 1886 in Cocke County and had 10 children between 1888 - 1909. All were born in Cocke County, Tennessee. Andrew and Della lost their eldest daughter Gertrude in Dec 1910. At some point not long after that they moved from Cocke County to Knox County, Tennessee. Only their second eldest child, a daughter, Margaret Ethel, who married Ernest Trentham remained in Cocke County. Andrew died on Sept 15, 1913 and is buried in the West Emory Cemetery in Knox County, along with Della who later married John M. Brewer. Teddie Drew Holt is also buried there having died on Dec 21, 1935. They are the only members of the family buried there. However, there is no record, in Tennessee of Drew's death so either he died outside of Tennessee, which is what I believe to be true, or a record was never made. What I have been told about Drew as he was called was that he moved to the Chattanooga Tennessee area, which is on the border with Georgia and could explain his not having a Tennessee death record. However, like my grandparents, his brother Edward Earl Holt and wife Lola, he does not seem to appear in the 1930 census. I don't know if they had something against the census or what but my grandmother, before she married my grandfather, disappears from the 1920 census as well. It is also true that by 1930 brothers Ottis and Robert Holt were living in Ohio. Later youngest sister Bessie moved up there was well and all three remained there until they died. The others, with the exception of Drew and Margaret Ethel, lived out their lives in Knoxville, Tennessee. Marriage records exist for most of the son's of Andrew and Della, in the Knox County, Archives. The exceptions being my grandfather, and brother Robert, who married in Ohio. There are more than one listing for a Drew Holt in the Knox County Archives who married about the same time. Holt and the name Drew Holt in particular is a common name in this area but most are not related to my family. Because of that, I cannot be sure that the marriage I found belonged to Teddie Drew Holt. Of the records I found, that I know for certain belong to Drew's brothers, none used their full names in the marriage records. Brother Wayne, whose first name is Wilmot was married using Wayne, which is what he was called and I would think Drew did the same. As for his daughter, I only know of her existence and that she was still living a few years ago. A cousin happened meet her and they realized who each other were. From that I gather there had not been contact between her and any of other Holt's for some time. I do not know the cousin who met her and my aunt has been too ill since that time to contact her for more details. For that reason I posted the query in the hope that one of Teddie Drew's descendents might be online. I have had success with that in the past, finding descendents of Robert Holt, Wayne Holt well as a daughter of sister Bessie. I appreciate you trying to help. I'm afraid that the records can tell me about him only to a point and it is at that point that I'm missing the info and unless or until I can get in connect with one of his descendents, it will remain a blank. Thanks.
