I understand the privacy issues, Ed but I was curious to know if you knew of other areas in England that Holt lines came from. Lancashire, Cheshire and Warwick all seem to be related. Have you been able to match many English lines with American lines? Bob, I can't divulge the names of the members because of privacy concerns, but you can see the lineages that I have received from them on my website at http://www.holtfamilydnaproject.com A few of them are from England without a place name given. The Randall Holt line from Hog Island, VA and Robert/Richard line from MD and VA should be fairly easy to find. As you will see we have Germany, Ireland, Norway and England on the list for sure. Referring back to my Amos query Amos could of course be a middle name and many times people had more than 2 but so far it looks like this Catherine is desc. from john Caney Holt, son of Charles and Martha Holt of SC and Ga. then to Tn , Jeff. Co. Al. and then to Blount Co. Al. Thanks for the input Sue
Is it possible that Amos is a middle name??

I have census records that seem to show one Permelia Catherine Holt as a dau. of John Holt and Maria of Blount co. Al. but family desc`s have "Amos" as her father. Her death cert. even mentions "John Holt" as her father so where does the "Amos" Holt name come in. I can`t seem to find an Amos anywhere in the vicinity of this Holt family. Namely: SC, Ga, Al, or Tn. Catherine Permelia was born about 1845 probably in Blount Co. Al. she married a Sandford Duncan (Dunkin) 1862 in Blount co. Al. Any suggestions? Sue in Al.
What has happened to Rootsweb-L I can`t even get there anymore to place a query. I used to have a page that had the states, alphabet for choosing surnames etc. Now i can`t even type in the surname to place a query. Am I explaining this sufficiently? I can`t get there anymore.

He was John Lawson Clardy. Sarah married Joseph Asbury Holt and they have nine children. I would like to find anyone who might have a family bible of Sarah's and if they would check it for the date of my Gr-grandfather death. Been searching for years to find when he died and where he might be buried. Hope someone can help.
