Joyce I didn't mean to imply Limestone County Al and Running Water Tn were near. Running Water is corner Dade County Ga in Marion County Tenn. You would have to cross Madison and Jackson Counties Al to Ga/Tn border. gerald preas dallas tx --- "Joyce G. Burlington Daily Times December 28, 1929 Holts, Who Were In Auto Wreck Sunday Morning:, Near Norlina Reported Much Better. Mrs. James Alex Holt, Jr., who was one of the three wreck victims near Norlina Sunday morning, later carried to a Henderson hospital, was brought in ambulance to St. Leo's hospital, Greensboro, with a broken pelvic bone, and will be under direct supervision of Dr. Cole there. J. A. Holt, Jr., who sustained bruises and lacerations, is with her, but is much better, and able to be up and walking about. Miss Mildred Holt, who was the most seriously hurt, is still unconscious in the Henderson hospital. Advices from the doctors there this morning stated that her body is functioning fairly well, she is taking slight nourishment, and is in a subconscious state, able to answer questions asked, although she has recognized no one. One of the doctors said she may recover, altho another is not yet ready to make that admission. -- Mary Ellis County Coordinator Alamance NCGenWeb http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~mwellis/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncalaman/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncacgs/
In May 10, 1818 Eli Holt received RESERVATION #70 in Running Water Town in Tennessee in right of wife. This indicates his wife was of Cherokee blood. There was 5 in the family. Does anyone know who and which Eli this was? Joyce Gaston Reece
Running Water Tenn is still there, with pipe of drinkable water from side of mountain. My Joseph Murphy was one of first settlers. It is very close to Tn/Ga State line. Joseph Murphy traded with the Indians for his land. My John E Holt (1839-1906) of Limestone County Ala and later Lamar County Tx., family history supposed to have Indian blood. gerald preas dallas tx --- "Joyce G. I feel certain you could email The Holt Association and ask your questions regarding the publishing date and perhaps they could even answer the Qs about Afro-American lineage... The book by the Holt Association is through 5 generations. There is a Nicholas which is my line and a William which is another line. Nicholas came from England on the ship James and landed in Boston in 1635. What years are the African American Holt Ancestors. It is only these two heads of family that are addressed in the book. It was re-printed by Higginsonbooks.com, without a publish date for the original. Just looked at my copy. Hope this helps. Jan
Greetings: Does this book acknowledge the Holt's of African Ancestry Jalil
