I think I have found a brother to Thomas Holmes (Homes) Is anyone doing research on John Holmes, from England, born about 1787. Married to a Harriett from VT.. children found so far are Linus, born NY, Harriett born NY and Salrisca born IL. Found this information in the 1850 Census for Sangamon County, Illinois.
