(info below) They were in reference of Assessment fees and amounts of Tobacco given, from the year 1744 one entry is 1753/1754 reguarding the largest assessment: Frederick County Virginia-Col. James Wood's Fee Book Anno Dom 1744 name ---------- pounds of tobacco Leonard Helms 65 Joseph Helms 155 William Hume 113 George Hume 220 Largest Assessments were: 1753/1754 Helm and Roberts (a firm) 606 pounds Leonard Helm 575 pounds also noted was: Additional marriage fees collected by Col. Wood to give to Gov. Gooch Leonard Helm in March 1744 (name of bride not given) "The Frederick County Fee Book signed by the Sheriff, Meredith Helm, dated 17 Jan 1754" Hope someone can use this, I did copy the exact web site address if anyone has trouble locating this information.
