Gilbert HOLMES, Phebe HOLMES, Hiram HOLMES, Henry HOLMES, and Americus A. HOLMES, all living in or having connections in Madison County, New York during the early to mid 19th century. I would like to share information with anyone who has knowledge of any of these people. 1. Nathan HOLMES. Born in 1767 in Massachusetts. Died on 1 Mar 1850 in Farmersville, Cattaraugus, New York. Buried in Farmersville, Cattaraugus, New York. Children: i. Peter (ca1797-1864) ii. Jabez iii. Henry 2. Nathan HOLMES. Born in est 1768. [He and Nathan (1) may be the same person.] He married Grace (HOLMES). Born ca 1771. Died on 30 Jan 1840. 3. Jabez HOLMES. Born on 9 Nov 1795 in Connecticut. Died on 16 Aug 1880. [He and Jabez (1ii) may be the same person.] He first married Irene (HOLMES). Born ca Oct 1801. Died on 4 Nov 1831. They had the following children: i. Andrew P. (1824-1877) ii. Rosina C. (1826-1868) iii. Louisa P. (1828-) [Middle initials of Andrew and/or Louisa may actually have been J.] He second married Harriet SMITH. Born on 24 Dec 1806 in Town of Hamilton, Madison, New York. Maria (ca1835-) iii. Mortimer (ca1838-) 5. Phebe HOLMES. Born ca 1802 in Washington County, New York. She married ____ WILSON. Died bef 1855. 6. Hiram HOLMES. Born on 2 Aug 1804 in Connecticut. Died on 28 Feb 1864 in Poolville, Madison, New York. Buried in Poolville (Poolville Rural Cemetery), Madison, New York. He married Rhoda S. COOK, daughter of John C. COOK & Barbara Maybill (COOK). Born on 21 Oct 1805 in Norwich, Chenango, New York. Died on 30 Sep 1891 in South Hamilton, Madison, New York. They had the following children: i. Jerome N. (1834-1912) ii. John Cook (1836-<1840) iii. Nancy Marion (1839-1903) 7. Henry HOLMES. Born on 16 Aug 1809 in Connecticut. Died on 2 Mar 1867 in Greenfield Center, Saratoga, New York. Buried in Porter Corners (Old Woodard Farm cemetery), Saratoga, New York. [He and Henry (1iii) may be the same person.] He married Louisa J. HODGES, daughter of Edward HODGES & ____ (HODGES), in 1835. Born ca 1816 in Hoosick, Rensselaer, New York. Died on 11 Apr 1888. They had the following children: i. Elizabeth (ca1835-) ii.
