Henry Holmes b. ca 1835, (in the 1870 Harris Co Tx census he is from NY, in the 1880 census he is from ILL. He was married to a Julia who in 1870 was from Ga and in 1880 was from LA) 1860 Galveston Co TX: (did they come by ship???) Donsena female 4/12 TX 1870 Harris Co Tx census shows the following : Henry Holmes J or JR.? 35 brickmason NY Julia 23 keep house GA Frank 15 M (looks like painter, but??) Ohio Howard 13 M ILL Edwin J. 7 M Tx Clara 4 F ILL Kramer, Phillip 32 M W Laborer Vermont? , Frank 26 M W blksmith " In 1880, Harris Co. TX shows: Holmes, H. 46 ILL ILL ILL Julia 32 LA Ed 16 TX Clara 14 Tx Jessie? 2 Tx Virg? 3/12 Tx My line follows that of Frank Henry Holmes. Frank Henry Holmes marr Elvira LAFOUR. It appears that wife Mary died sometime after the 1860 census, along with the female child Donsena. I am not sure where to look for Henry Holmes family... Ohio or ILL or NY.... I found a Henry Holmes b. 1835 in NY who went to ILL and I found where he and his wife Julia are buried there in Iroquois Co ILL. in 1919 and 1951... looks like the right people but in the wrong place---they had children in ILL and all lived and died there...
