This is a repost from another list. There are several Holmes here. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------- << From: "Ronald J. Skellie" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Subject: [MSJEFFER-L] JOB FOXWORTH DIARY NAME INDEX BY RON SKELLIE 1999. The following is a long message but has relevance to Franklin, Amite, Jefferson, Lawrence, Pike, Lincoln and Copiah counties. In my efforts to gather information on the 7th Mississippi regiment, I found this diary of Job Foxworth of Marion County, Co. D Jeff Davis Sharpshooters 7th Miss. The diary covers from February to June, 1862. NOTES: ( ) my best guess or most likely when text is read in context. _______ No surname, title or first name listed or unable to determine from context. Forgive my addition of descriptive names, such as "old man", "negro slave", "Yankee officer"; but they add to the diary and could be a clue for a later researcher. Some units are listed here when the unit is named for the commander. In most cases if a name is listed in any context, living or dead, the name is listed with the exception of literary figures. Any person using this index should be thankful to Job Foxworth for recording these events, his family for saving the diary, and Prof. Charles Sullivan and others for printing the transcript and offering me the opportunity to complete this index. Please share with others and notify me of any corrections, omissions and any additional information on any of these men. The ultimate goal of this effort is to build a store of knowledge on these men and their families; "Lest We Forget"..
