Been working on other areas of the family, and decided it was finally time to focus on where my last name came from. Would appreciate any help you can give. I need help with the following individuals: Frederick C. Holmes b. 1836 (1838?) d. June, 14, 1862 (Civil War, Frederick Holmes was killed in the Civil War. He was in the Pennsylvania Bucktail Regiment.) PA Civil War Records has following card entry for Frederick C. Holmes: 1-13 Reserve 42nd Regiment Enrolled 5-30-1861 at McKean County, PA M.I. 5-30-1861 as Pvt. at Harrisburg, PA M.O. _____________ Discharged _____________ Age at Enrollment 33 Complexion Dark Height 5'6 1/2" Eyes Blue Hair Brown Occupation Carpenter Residence McKean County, PA Remarks: Promoted to Corp. date unknown. Wounded at Harrisburg 6-6-1862, died 6-14-1862. I am in the process of obtaining service and pension records from National Archives, wanted to know if anyone else linked to him or his family. I have been led to believe that Mark Mills Holmes (below) is the grandson of Frederick C. Holmes. I do not know father or mother of Mark Mills Holmes at this time. 1) Mark Mills Holmes b. 1876, Olean NY d. 1966, Olean NY m. R. Conklin I have descendants of James Richmond Holmes, but no ancestors (except for possible lead on Frederick C. Holmes). Thanks for your help. Christopher W.
