Does anyone have info on Samuel Holmes, who was in Ulster Co. & Orange Co., NY in the early 1700's? His wife's name was En Hobbeson. Three of their children were baptized 4 Jul 1733 at Minisink, Orange Co., NY by the minister of the Kingston, NY Dutch Reformed Church. I don't think these three were triplets as the baptism records usually indicate that -- there were lots of baptisms that day, so the minister was probably making his rounds of the churches he served. A fourth child may be Eleanor Holmes who was b. about 1735. She md. William Terry in Bucks Co., PA 26 May 1756. My ancestor is Mary Holmes who md. Joseph Wheeler 4 Sep 1748 in the Smithfield, Bucks Co., PA Reformed Dutch Church. The marriage record indicates that Maria was born at Smithfield, so it may be that her parents lived there and made the trip to Minisink, NY to have the children baptized. I'd be happy to share what little info I have on this family. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Pat Shoemaker Phoenix, AZ (Boy, is it hot here!) [email protected]
