Just taking the time to bring up the name of Henry R. (Ralph?) Holmes to see if I'm not the only one looking for him........ He was born in August of 1844 (so the story goes) in Mobile Co. Alabama (Mt. Vernon?)....no family info at all. Served in the civil war for Ohio!! hmmmm... with the yankees!!! Married a Ohio gal, Nancy Jane Fish,...had one daughter Henrietta "Hettie" who married Samuel Bell Courtney (of Ireland) and they all lived happily ever after in Pittsburgh PA.
