I am still looking for the parents of John M. HOLMES, born 1800-1810, who married Harriett MITCHELL, born ca 1809, at Harmony Methodist Church, Edgefield District, SC on 29 July 1830. John appears to be on the 1840 census for Edgefield with 1 son 5-10, 2 sons under 5, and one daughter under 5. I have not been able to find him in 1850 although I do know he was in the Village of Edgefield in 1849 because he was involved in a couple of land transactions. The only child I have a name for is Lebud L. HOLMES, born ca 1835. Harriett shows up in 1860 Richmond Co, GA living alone and son Lebud with wife Ann V ? is also living in Richmond Co, GA by this time. Two HOLMES women also married in Harmony Methodist Church: Matilda HOLMES m. Martin POSEY 23 Feb 1838 Sabra HOLMES m. William WILLIAMS 1 Jan 1835 Anyone recognize these names?
