Dear List, I'm hoping you can help me out here. I have been doing geneology for 20 years but can still not find the parents of my great-grand mother Mary E. Holmes. Mary E. Holmes was born in Ohio in May of 1849. She married Samuel Knight or McKnight on Feb. 1, 1870 in Daviess Co., MO. She suffered from strokes for 13 years and her daughter, Maude (Mc) Knight who married Ed Potter, took care of her during those years. They moved to Arkansas, town unknown. According to census records both of Mary E. Holmes parents were born in NY. Maude and Ed had no children, but my father, A.J. Roberts, used to spend time on their farm when he was a child during the summers of his youth. Maude had two sisters, my grandmother Margaret Ann (McKnight). She was born on Nov. 8, 1881 and was the third wife of George Francis (Frank) Roberts. They married on Aug. 20, 1913 in Cameron, MO. The other sister, Cora, never married. My relatives have no info on the Holmes family. I can not get Mary's death certificate as I do not know her exact county of death. I have searched census records in OH and MO to no avail.
