I am researching the family of Norval HOLMES (1811 - 2 Mar 1875) who married (1) Margaret BELL 1818-1854 and (2) Elizabeth [email protected] He lived for most of life in Allegheny City and Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co, PA. Norval's children included the following: with Margaret BELL Thomas D HOLMES 1836-1918 John B HOLMES 1838-1912 Lewis W HOLMES 1841-1864 William E HOLMES 1845-1870 George Quail HOLMES 1850-1910 with Elizabeth Nettie HOLMES [email protected] Norval HOLMES Jr [email protected] Sarah HOLMES [email protected] Benjamin F D HOLMES 1872-1874 William P W HOLMES 1872-1873 Norval's parentage is still unknown. Public records have him choosing a John PATTERSON as his guardian in 1827. It is unknown if this person was a relation. Elizabeth HOLMES and children disappear from Allegheny Co PA Census in 1880. It may be possible that Elizabeth remarried and went to TX. Daughter Sarah is believed to have married a John MCCASKILL. Looking for other researching the same for exchange of information.
