Car 60 Re: Holmes. I am researching Holmes trying to find info on my paternal grandmother. She was born Elsa Lavonne Williams in Chicago, Cook, IL between 1892 and November 1895. Mother was Alice Bertha Williams born IL, Oct.21, 1859. Father was a William ? Williams supposedly deceased late 1890s. Also Born in IL. Alice's parents were from Germany. Only thing known was Alices mothers name was maybe Christina. Could be William's mother . She was listed under Alice as living with her in 1900. She was 79 at the time. Have had no contact with this side of the family. Maternal Grandmother took my father as an infant to OR. He was told his mother had died shortly after he was born. He was born according to her -Clyde George Holmes Jr. in Chicago, Cook, IL on April 3, 1916. He died May 11, 1991. His Grandmother died in 1932 leaving him an orphan at 16. Dad's name was changed to Vincent Illago Williams before he was 4 years old. Listed on the 1920 census in OR as her adopted son. Was told that his father had married a Estella Forsythe and had a son named Elliot who was a police officer in Pennsylvania somewhere. Any help out there would sure be appreciated.
