Hello fellow HOLMES CHASERS, My Great-Great grandfather, Jefferson M HOLMES was 1830 in Thompkins County, New York, according to family legend and Kansas History. I have been unable to learn ANYTHING of his parents, siblings or ancesters. JM married Hannah Culey in Scio, Michigan in 1851. They moved Burlington, Iowa in 1856 and in 1872 to prairy land homestead south of what is now Galva, Kansas, (Mcpherson County)where he lived the rest of his life. They had six children. My great grandfather, Thomas Jefferson was the first of them, born 1853 in Scio, Mi. He also took up a homestead land near his father and married Martha Caldwell. Much later, he moved his family south to Kaw city/ Newkirk, Oklahoma and then to Wichita, where he died in 1926. They had eight children, including my grandmother, Clara May HOLMES.
