Do the names Nathaniel, Isaac, Lewis and Hannah HOLMES sound at all familiar to anyone? I am helping out a genealogy friend that doesn't have a computer nor Internet access. I have a copy of a will she sent me (I am a HOLMES descendant also but we haven't connected yet) that mentions those names. Isaac HOLMES is the father of those children and their mother is Deborah. They live in Bedford, Westchester Co., NY. Nathaniel is the eldest son. Son Isaac gets some property called Mary Holmes plain, Isaac, Sr. had purchased from Ebenezer HOLMES. Also property mentioned purchased from David MEAD. Then son Lewis he left some property. Hannah got some money. The will is dated 16 June 1740. There is another date of 27 March 1741. The will is on file at Bedford Hills with the John C. HOLMES Papers. I hope that this rings a bell or two with someone! Please contact me and hopefully there is a connection!
