It's something of a stretch, but there was an Israel HOLMES b. 1781 who lived in the Town of Hamilton... and the closest village was Hubbardsville, named after one of the members of the Hubbard family that lived around there. Even if Harriett was from Canada and spelled her name Hubbert, there could be a connection. I have a little more info on Israel and some of his relatives including his HOLMES ancestors. Wish I could say the same for me; as far as I know Israel was not one of my relatives. - Rich Holmes
