Thanks. The article is online at <http://www.syracuse.com/news/syrnewspapers/index.ssf?/newsstories/20010622_cfhist.html> and talks about the two members of the Brookfield [Madison County, NY] High School Class of 1901. Of one of them the article says in part Katherine Elizabeth Holmes was born Oct. 29, 1880, a daughter of the local Methodist minister, and was 21 when she graduated. She moved to Arcade, in Western New York, married Leslie Spring and had two daughters. A genealogy of the descendants of Seth HOLMES shows Katherine as the eldest child of Harvey L. HOLMES and Hattie R. STILLMAN. To the best of my knowledge this is not my Holmes line (though I can't prove it one way or the other). But I am related to Katherine! Her grandmother (Harvey's mother), Mary Prudence YORK, was a sister of my 2nd great grandfather, Lelen Collins YORK. And the other member of the Class of 1901 was a York! From the York Book, Hal John YORK was a 5th great grandson of Thomas YORK and Mary BROWN. This couple also was great grandparents of Mary Prudence and Lelen YORK, hence Katherine's 3rd great grandparents and my 5th great grandparents. So Katherine and Hal John were fourth cousins twice removed, and I'm related to the entire Class of 1901... - Rich Holmes
