    1. [HOLMES] Rev. Wm Collier, b. Ireland, served in SC, 1800's
    2. Sydney Cardner
    3. Reverend William Holmes, was a "local minister" of the Methodist Church in SC in the 1850's.....perhaps before and after. We do know that he was deceased by 1869, as the obituary of his granddaughter, Mary Collier McKay, in Tampa, Florida refers to him as the "late" Rev. Holmes. We do know he had a daughter Sarah A Holmes, b. SC about 1816. She married Rev./Dr. William E. Collier. They died in Ft. Myers, Florida, in 1886, two months apart. I have both their obituaries, which are very special to me. We also know that Rev. Wm. Holmes had a son F. A. Holmes, who sounds as though he may also have been a minister. He wrote the obituary of Mary Collier McKay in 1869, and he said she was his niece. That is the extent of my knowledge of this man. I am making progress, as I just today found out that he was probably born in Ireland, year unknown, place unknown. I say probably because I found it on the 1880 Lee County, FL census showing as the birthplace of Sarah Holmes Collier's father. If anyone knows the identity of or has other info on the F. A. Holmes mentioned, I would like to know. Sydney Cardner (the Sydney is female)
