Posted on: HOLMES Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/h/o/HOLMES/queries/94 Surname: Holmes, Akin, Aikin, Eakin ------------------------- Garry, Right now, I know little more than you, but it is, of course, possible that your David is descended from this "Rev. Mr. Holmes." All I know, right now, is that his daughter Isabel (born around 1699) married my ancestor, Henry Akin, on August 22, 1721 in Woburn, that Henry was from Lexington and Isabel from Woburn, and that they moved to Connecticut a few years later, after having their first son in "Boston," according to records found in Connecticut. So there was at least one Holmes family in the area at that time. But Woburn vital records are just as empty of any other references to Holmes as Lexington. Both towns list the marriage in their vital records, and that is the only reference to either surname that I have been able to find. I'm hoping someone researching Holmes can give both of us a clue! I'll check back here to let you know if I find anything. Can you do the same for me? Carl
