Just tossing this name out again......this fella was probably born in August of 1844 in either Mt. Vernon Alabama (near Mobile?)? or perhaps a similar sounding name in Louisiana. He entered the civil war from Barlow, Washington Co. Ohio....for the Union forces. Was he a yankee sympathizer who left the South to fight for the North? I believe the middle initial "R" may stand for Ralph...since his grandson was named Ralph Holmes as first and middle names. Henry married Nancy Jane Fish from Ohio (daughter of James and Alice Fish) but somehow they ended up in Pittsburgh PA.....They had just one child, Henrietta, born in 1866 near Marietta OH. Can any one help me on this fella? Maybe this has helped someone else. Thanx Barbara....uprooting family trees in Sacramento.
