--WebTV-Mail-8297-449 Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit The following is a post I sent to another list last May. Thought someone here on the HOLMES list might benefit... or perhaps suggest where to go next in my research. My brick wall is Thomas HOLMES born 1785 in NYC. Cannot find anything on his parents and/or siblings... altho' Simeon Holmes of Wethersfield, CT seems to be the most likely candidate. Need proof he was Simeon's son to establish connection to Francis Holmes of Stamford, CT. Have looked _everywhere_ and still nothing... Thomas married Eunice DEMAREST abt 1811 in Brooklyn, Kings Co., NY; then relocated to NYC (Manhattan) where all seven of their children were born... He died there in 1863. Does anyone know if land records would be any help? Taxes? Mortgage? I am at a loss as to where to go from here. Suggestions anyone? Thanks...
