Does anyone have family data to exchange about Coos County, New Hampshire, Holmes families? Valorus R. HOLMES Obituary DEATH OF MR. HOLMES. Valorus R. Holmes, one of the most distinguished and best known citizens of the North Country, died at his home in Northumberland, early yesterday [June 8, 1909] morning. Mr. Holmes had been in very poor health for six months, and his death has been expected at any time. Bright's disease was the direct cause. Mr. Holmes, who was 61 years of age, was a business man of wide experience, and during the active years of his life conducted extensive operations in lumber and timber. Much of the prosperity of his village was due to his activity. Since the death of his son Harry some two years ago, the latter's wife and child have made their home with him. He leaves a widow, as well as brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon. "Coos County Democrat," Weds, June 9, 1909. p. 1.
